1. ‘Dance with my Father’ by Luther Vandross
‘If I could steal one final glance, one final step
one final dance with him
I’d play a song that would never ever end’
‘Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream’
I came across this song from an album ‘Magic’, which collects different contemporary pop songs. Since the old times, there are only few songs that featuring dad-child affection. Being the rare one, this song is truly moving. We should all be reminded how hard our parents to brought us up.
2. ‘Everything to lose’ by Dido
‘I loved to be alive, but I was not afraid to die’
‘Ohhh, I’ve got everything to lose’
This song is of the sort that boutiques play as background music. The electronic arrangement is highly modern. Perhaps the customers can be mesmerized to buy clothes without second thought.
If you are really into electronic music, you should not miss the ones ‘Chemical Brothers’ produce. They push the limit and you may be amazed how ‘music’ can be transformed.
The following are my collections of Dido:
‘End of Night’
‘Everything to lose’
‘Life for Rent’
‘Sand in my Shoes’
‘Thank You’
3. ‘Send in the Clowns’ by Judy Collins
‘Just when I stopped opening doors,
finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours.’
‘I thought that you’d want what I want…
Sorry, my dear
But where are the clowns?’
Collins’ voice is convincing as a ‘narrator of a story’. It is just like morning sunshine, which warms your heart.
The following are my collections:
‘Cook with Honey’
‘Farewell to Tarwathie’
‘Send in the Clowns’
‘Who knows where the Times goes’
4. ‘She’s Got You’ by Patsy Cline
‘I’ve got the records that we used to share
And they still sound the same as when you were here.’
‘The only thing different, the only thing new
I’ve got the records, she’s got you’
‘I’ve got these little things, she’s got you’
I accidentally heard her song ‘Crazy’ in a local movie. It was a shock to me as not many DJs of radio station introduce this singer. Also, it is a pity that she died young (aged 30) due to plane crash.
Still, you can listen to her songs and feel the pace of the 50s & 60s. Her low pitch is especially captivating. I found some of her popular works in the album ‘Crazy: The Collection’. Her songs could give you some peace and joy, for sure.
‘When I get through with you’
5. ‘If you come to me’ by Atomic Kitten
‘Baby, if you turn around
and prove to me it’s real’
‘Maybe we can work it out
Cause this is how I feel’
‘Any day you’re away and I feel a little low
I would cry for you, die for you.’
‘Just to let you know, oh, baby’
Boy bands and girl bands often catch the attention of public instantly. This may be due to the lively dance the members perform, the voice chemistry when all the members sing, or the media can report stories much more easily because each member has a unique character.
Atomic Kitten’s songs are quite uplifting. All the setbacks you encounter seem vanish. You have the power to live a whole new day.
The following are my collections of Atomic Kitten:
‘Cradle’
‘If you come to me’
‘Love doesn’t have to hurt’
‘Right Now’
‘The Tide is high’
‘Whole again’
‘You are’
