This week, we’ll continue with the remaining parts of ‘Brain Power — — Improve your Mind as you Age’ by Michael J.Gelb and Kelly Howell.

Chapter Five: Create a Brain-Enhancing Environment

Natural sunlight has a profound effect on body and mind, and it’s an important aspect of creating a brain-enhancing environment. Without adequate sunlight, the immune system is weakened, and many people experience depression.

Along with harmonious sound and full-spectrum light, fresh air is an essential element for the long-term health of your body and mind. Healthy houseplants serve as wonderful air fresheners.

To bring more beauty into your life every day, display beautiful images in your office, on your screen saver, and in your home. Keep fresh flowers at home and at work.

Chapter Six: Cultivate Healthy Relationships

A rich social life will help you avoid cognitive decline as it strengthens your immune system. When you identify current or potential true friends, do your best to cultivate and cherish the relationship.

Sexual fulfillment flourishes in relationships deepened with maturity. Sex with a mature partner can be satisfying because men over fifty are not in a hurry. They put their partner’s needs first. They have learned that great sex doesn’t have to include intercourse at all — — it’s only one option.

Chapter Seven: Rest Peacefully to delay Resting in Peace

Tips for helping you sleep:
a) Create rituals that help you relax. A relaxing pre-bedtime bath, a spray of lavender scent, reading from an inspiring text are a few suggestions for helping you ease into a night of restful sleep.

b) Keep a regular schedule. Ideally, you go to sleep and wake up at the same times. But if you have to choose, put the emphasis on the consistency of your waking time. This helps to regulate your internal body clock.

一. 記協執委中有一位浸大學生, 更有一位執委是公關。醫委會或律師會執委中會有學生或公關嗎?

二. 記協有效會員486人中, 公關會員34人, 學生會員56人, 香港新聞從業員成千上萬人, 區區三四百人只佔行業幾巴仙, 學生都做執委, 有甚麼代表性?

三. 記協倡議「人人都是記者」, 20年5月有兩名13及16歲未成年學生記者被帶返警署, 記協袒護「學生有權採訪」。果如是, 不需要記者證了, 身份證即可。

四. <<環球時報>> 記者付國豪在19年8月機場採訪示威時被圍毆, 記協並未譴責暴徒, 而是提醒記者事發時沒有佩戴記者證, 明顯雙重標準。
